ABOUT THE NGV CO-OP
Welcome to the NGV Cooperative Purchasing Program. This program allows public and private fleets to purchase CARB-certified natural gas vehicles with dealers who have been through a competitive bid process. The Cooperative is offered free of charge, allowing you to buy some of the world’s cleanest vehicles at the lowest prices and avoiding the “going out to bid process.”

The price of each vehicle is listed, as well as each dealership. All of the vehicles and equipment are new. The natural gas vehicles will be delivered to the dealerships and ready for service upon completion of order. Any quantity of vehicles can be ordered at any time. 38 types of natural gas vehicles are available, including sedans, trucks, and vans.

Background:
CALSTART has partnered with other NGV stakeholders to create a Natural Gas Vehicle Cooperative Purchase Program (the Cooperative). The Cooperative offers the purchasing opportunities for light- and medium-duty vehicles for fleets and the general public. This program is currently offered in California, with the possibility of expanding to other states.

We understand there is demand for natural gas vehicles by public fleets, private fleets, and individuals who seek these vehicles as a means of reducing pollution while increasing energy security and diversity.

The Ford vehicles have been specified to use the gaseous prep engine option.  The 2011 GM/Chevrolet vehicles come standard with hardened valves and seats that are suitable for the natural gas engines. The CNG cylinder configurations are the most common size used in the industry.  Please note that some vehicles have specifications which include the standard cylinder package as well as an extended range CNG package.

Please also note that the Honda Civic GX has two dealership offerings. The first is for customers that are tax paying entities (this includes private fleets and general public). The second is for municipalities (non-taxpaying entities). Municipalities cannot use the tax credit and this is a significant benefit. The dealership is taking the tax credit and passing on the savings to the municipal fleets.
