HTUF HYBRID REFUSE TRUCK WORKING GROUP UPDATE
Commercial Construction Equipment Users Forum (CCEUF) is focused on the formation of working groups and the scoping of potential demonstration projects.  CCEUF will form several sub-groups that will focus on hydraulics and fluids, codes and standards, and idle reduction.  Demonstration projects that could potentially have a military focus are being solicited and scoped.

The CCEUF will meet at HTUF 2009 in Atlanta with a half-day session that will include presentations on the military’s use of construction equipment, the electrification of off-road equipment, and hydraulic system configurations.  CCEUF will also spend time establishing the working groups.

After the meeting at HTUF, CCEUF will conduct monthly conference calls/webinars.  Next live meeting of the CCEUF post HTUF 2009 is targeted for March 2010.

ABOUT HYBRID REFUSE TRUCK WORKING GROUP
Focuses primarily on class 8 solid waste collection vehicles. This group is technology-neutral and is open to hybrid-electric, hydraulic hybrid and potentially other hybrid drive system technologies. This group has developed a common hybrid refuse chassis specification and collecting duty cycle and refuse market data to support business case development, and will be assessing pre-production hydraulic- and electric hybrid refuse trucks. The City of Chicago serves as the user lead for this group.
