EPA
Looking at HD Hybrid Testing Protocols
- Seeking Industry Input
To
help assist the early market launch of
medium- and heavy-duty hybrid vehicles,
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) is beginning to look into what national
testing protocols could be put in place
to help quantify the emissions benefits
of hybrid systems.
EPA, working with HTUF, will
hold and take part in a first hybrid industry stakeholder’s meeting
on October 19 as part of the HTUF National Meeting
in Toledo, Ohio. It will take place at the conference
hotel. The stakeholder’s meeting will be structured
to collect ideas and comments on what industry and
other stakeholders from government, user and other
interests would like to see in a testing protocol,
and concerns stakeholders have about possible pitfalls
to avoid. EPA will also provide a briefing to HTUF
National Meeting attendees on its process and timeline
for moving forward with a testing protocol.
To take part in the stakeholder meeting on October
19, contact Bill Van Amburg, bvanamburg@weststart.org,
or Monica Alcaraz, malcaraz@weststart.org.
