October 25 , 2006 ------ HTUF e-UPDATE

New Hybrids to be Unveiled at National Meeting
6th National Meeting/November 14 - 16, 2006 San Diego, California

Two never-before-seen hybrid trucks, including a utility Class 7 truck from Peterbilt and a refuse truck from Oshkosh, will be among several hybrid vehicles unveiled and available to drive at the HTUF National Meeting in San Diego.

In addition to the newly unveiled vehicles, we will also have some of the first chances to experience several medium- and heavy-duty hybrid vehicles, including Freightliner's new Class 7 utility hybrid truck, Azure's hybrid shuttle bus, Peterbilt's second generation hydraulic hybrid refuse truck, Odyne's hybrid refuse truck, ISE's hybrid shuttle bus, International's pre-production utility hybrid truck, Eaton's hydraulic hybrid shuttle, Allison hybrid buses, and more.

The ride and drive will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16. The main technical briefings take place Wednesday, Nov. 15 and feature the latest information on hybrid technology, product status, field test results and incentive funding. We will also get an update on the EPA's progress in developing a hybrid testing protocol. Tuesday Nov. 14 is reserved for fleet meetings and an evening reception.

The array of vehicles is an important indicator of the growing momentum and investment in hybrid technologies for the commercial market, driven partly by rising and uncertain fuel prices, increasing concerns about energy security and global warming, and the improving business case for technologies that can both reduce emissions and fuel use.

The HTUF 2006 National Meeting spans a Tuesday (fleet-only meetings) through Thursday time frame, and is hosted by an industry team lead by ISE Corporation, together with Maxwell Technology and Siemens Energy and Automation Inc, and with sponsorship from Oshkosh, Allison Transmission and Miramar Community College.
