CALSTEP ACTION PLAN
CalSTEP aims to advance state-level legislative measures, local initiatives, corporate actions, and enhanced public awareness to increase fuel choice and efficiency, with the ultimate goal of reducing the state’s petroleum dependence and transportation-related emissions. CalSTEP’s recommended policies are designed to achieve a sustainable reduction in the overall on-road petroleum fuel consumption in California to at least 15 percent below 2003 levels by 2020, while increasing the proportion of alternative transportation fuels in the state to at least 20 percent of total on-road transportation fuel demand.

The group released an Action Plan in 2007 with ten forward-thinking policy recommendations. These recommendations are consensus-driven and industry-supported, and have generally been well-received. Eight of the ten recommendations are currently being implemented either as originally proposed or in a modified form. CalSTEP members are actively involved in supporting these recommendations, helping to actually create consensus and spur action.
