A recent new member of CALSTART, Pi Innovo prides itself on being an expert partner for the design and development of innovative electronics systems to the automotive, defense and allied industries. They provide uniquely adaptable business engagements, based on Pi Team engineering services and OpenECU™ products, and enjoy a strong reputation for delivering results of the highest quality and value.
The latest software product introduction from vehicle electronics innovators, Pi Innovo, guides engine control unit (ECU) developers through the complex requirements for on-board diagnostics (OBD) that are compliant with CARB and European emissions legislation. The OBD Infrastructure software product successfully captures the expertise Pi Innovo engineers have gained over years of implementing compliant OBD capabilities in powertrain control and exhaust gas aftertreatment projects.
“At the OBD software core is an extensive library of compliant software functions resulting from our engineers poring over reams of specification documents,” commented David Price, CTO at Pi Innovo, “However, the key to the product is the configurable Simulink® blocks and intelligent build system that achieve just the right balance between enabling a flexible application and maintaining compliance with the chosen OBD and communication standards.”

The OBD Infrastructure software is equally useful in non-emissions related applications and is part of the OpenECU™ range of adaptable, field-ready products designed to accelerate electronics system development. The Pi Innovo philosophy behind OpenECU™ is the creation of modular, reusable technology that is implemented to volume production standards and is fully “open” to custom configuration, adaption and further development. The OpenECU™ family includes: hardware modules, prototyping accessories, electronic circuit libraries, platform software, model-based control strategies and application software.
The recent addition of the M470 to the OpenECU™ module range added improved support for modern gasoline and common-rail diesel engine required to comply with Euro V and Tier 4 emission regulations.
