NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 Blue Sky AwardTM. The award, internationally recognized, is presented to companies, organizations or individuals selected for making outstanding contributions to clean air, energy efficiency and to the advanced transportation industry. One overall Blue Sky Award is presented, and up to three Merit awards. The Blue Sky AwardTM tradition also includes the Charles R. Imbrecht Blue Sky Innovation AwardTM. Created in 1999 and named in honor of the third -- and longest serving -- chairman of the California Energy Commission (CEC), the award is presented in recognition of innovative actions taken to develop future markets for advanced, sustainable transportation that cleans the air, improves energy efficiency, and helps reduce greenhouse emissions. The Blue Sky AwardTM is presented to formally recognize - and reward - outstanding contributions not only to develop clean vehicles and technologies, but also to actively bring them to the marketplace. The Blue Sky AwardTM is specifically designed to recognize not just leadership and innovation in technology for clean, sustainable transportation, but a significant commitment to its use. As you consider whom to nominate (and self-nominations are fine!) remember that the judges look for a variety of elements in their deliberations. Among other criteria, the judges want to see increases in energy efficiency; contributions to the reduction of green house gases; technological sustainability; and that the nominee has a real commitment to market launch. When assembling a nomination, third-party endorsements, technical data and other supporting documents are very valuable during the consideration process and make for a stronger nomination.
Blue Sky AwardTM winners gather on the steps of The Athenaeum at Caltech in Questions and requests for additional information: Melanie Savage, msavage@calstart.org or call 626/744-5683 |
