    About the Green Truck Summit

CALSTART and the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA)held the world's premier green medium and heavy-duty truck and bus event. Combining CALSTART’s extensive experience in clean technologies and fuels with NTEA’s  Work Truck Show, the largest trade show of commercial vehicles in North America, the Green Truck Summit offered an expanded showcase of equipment, new fuels and technologies, informative clean technologies and fuels agenda and breakout sessions.

The CALSTART-NTEA Green Truck Summit 2011 was a tremendous success with almost 700 people in attendance, a 21% increase from the 2010 Summit attendance. Keynoting the Summit was National Highway Traffic and Safety Administrator, David Strickland, discussing the new fuel standards for medium and heavy duty trucks. Subsequent sessions presented an OEM panel discussing technologies being developed to meet the more stringent fuel economy and emissions standards, as well as a session by major fleet operators already using clean fuels and clean technologies discussing their strategies for achieving these goals.

An afternoon of 15 parallel breakout sessions gave attendees an opportunity to hear more specific details about such topics as funding opportunities for clean vehicles, use of biomethane as a transportation fuel, updates on hybrid technologies, gaseous fuels, idle reduction technologies, energy storage, low rolling-resistance tires, and drive cycle analysis. The second day's Keynote presentation, by Connie Burek of IBM and Rob Stevens of Ford, provided attendees insight on what these two organizations see as the truck of the future. In line with future talk was the final presentations on the electrification of vehicles, as well as some insights into what is coming next in gaseous fuels.

Moving from the Green Truck Summit, attendees were able to go to the exhibit floor of the Work Truck Show and actually take a spin in clean and alternative fueled trucks at the Green Truck Summit Ride and Drive and view many of these green technologies at booths at the CALSTART Clean Technologies and Fuel Pavilion.
