MILITARY INSTALLATIONS WORKING GROUP UPDATE
The Military Installations Working Group's first activity is the buy down of the incremental costs of some early trucks and placing them in service at several military bases in the U.S. Initial deployments involve the Navy and Marines and will be completed by mid-2011. The long-term goal is to increase purchase volumes so that the incremental costs will come down.  The group consists of representatives of each of the armed services, the Department of Defense, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and “champions” from several key military installations.

ABOUT MILITARY INSTALLATIONS WORKING GROUP
The newest HTUF working group is the Military Installations Working Group. The main objective of this group is to increase the deployment of commercially-available hybrid trucks throughout the military services. This will be accomplished by identifying common platforms and applications, making joint purchases where possible, and ensuring that new hybrid trucks are part of the federal GSA purchasing schedule.
