CalHEAT has ambitious objectives to help California achieve its air quality and GHG goals. Through its Technology Roadmap and demonstration programs CalHEAT is providing unique and significant steps for California to develop its state truck transportation plan. How speeding the commercialization and deployment of clean truck technologies helps the state achieve these goals is the focus of the day’s discussion.

Technology Roadmap Findings - Pathways, Challenges and Strategies for Success
The CalHEAT Technology Roadmap proposes and recommends key technology pathways for California to achieve its clean air goals for 2020 and for 2050. It explores the challenges and barriers to achieving these technology pathways as well as some of the key strategies and market mechanisms which are needed by industry, government, and fleets need to advance clean truck technologies.

Policy Initiatives Speeding Clean Truck Technologies
In this session, key staff from U.S. EPA and the California Air Resources Board will discuss planned and existing regulations and policies that are driving the development and deployment of clean truck technologies. They will provide an overview of where we are today and will talk about how much these policies will do to contribute to the petroleum and emission reduction goals at the heart of the CalHEAT roadmap.

Current and planned policies are driving technology development, but more is needed to bridge the gap between where current policy will get us and where we need to be. In this session, experts will discuss the investments, incentives, and additional programs needed to achieve the petroleum and emissions reduction goals that form the basis of the CalHEAT roadmap.

CalHEAT Technology Roadmap – Fleet Perspectives on Clean Truck Technologies
Technologies need to be accepted by the people who will use them the most, primarily truck fleets. But there continues to be challenges and barriers to widespread deployment. In this session, fleets discuss what challenges they face in adopting clean truck technologies and what they would like to see happen including a viable business case, incentives, and supportive government policy initiatives for them to invest in clean truck technologies.
