FY 2010 DERA Support Letter 
CALSTART joins a broad coalition of over 350 environmental, science-based, public health, industry, and governmental groups in expressing support for the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) program and in calling for full funding of DERA and state and local air quality programs in the federal government’s Fiscal Year 2010 budget. CALSTART believes the need to provide incentives and financial assistance to help the trucking industry and others is particularly important during these tough economic times. These types of programs are an essential part of the nation’s goal to reduce emissions and transition toward cleaner transportation technologies. An identical letter addressed to the US House of Representatives was submitted on May 20, 2009.

CALSTART Testimony on Development and Deployment of Cleaner Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles, Presented to the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, March 2009 
In March of 2009, John Boesel was invited to provide testimony at a Select Committee Hearing entitled “Constructing a Green Transportation Policy: Transit Modes and Infrastructure” The testimony discusses key drivers for the clean transportation industry and presents a framework for a program to accelerate the development and deployment of clean, efficient, low-carbon medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
Recommendations to Obama Energy Transition Team on Low-Carbon Stimulus Opportunities 
CALSTART provided President-Elect Barack Obama's transition team with an economic stimulus package designed to create jobs while laying the foundation for a future of reduced oil dependence and greenhouse gas emissions.
CALSTART Testimony on Hybrid Technologies for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Trucks, Presented to the House Committee on Science and Technology in June 2008 
In June of 2008, CALSTART’s Richard Parish testified before the House Energy and Environment Subcommittee on the Hybrid Truck Users Forum and hybrid and high efficiency vehicle technologies for the medium- and heavy-duty sectors.
