Hino Trucks will roll-out their new Class 4 and 5 cab-over-engine (COE) diesel-electric hybrids in California and seven U.S. cities this December. A full, country-wide roll-out is likely in 2012.
Having developed the world’s first hybrid bus twenty years ago, these trucks will use the 6th generation of Hino’s hybrid technology. Both the Class 4 and Class 5 vehicles use Hino’s J05 5L, 5-cylinder diesel engine for the drive train. Adding the hybrid adaptive control system, reduces emission and fuel usage by about 30%.On-board NiMH batteries, with an operating life of 8-10 years, store the energy from the regenerative braking system.
Attendees at the Hybrid Truck Users Forum National Conference & Expo
will have the opportunity to see first-hand all that these exciting new hybrids have to offer.
