ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER 

Position Overview
CALSTART has an immediate opening for a highly-motivated person to join our team as an Associate Project Manager.  This is an exciting time in the Midwest for building the clean transportation technology industry and the opportunity to improve air quality, prevent climate change, and create jobs.  The Associate Project Manager will help develop, support, and manage high impact clean transportation projects.  The position will be based in Troy, Michigan at CALSTART’s Midwest office.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as have experience in research and program management.  Successful candidates must have a positive “can do” attitude and think quickly on his or her feet.  We want someone with a passion for CALSTART’s mission and for making a difference, who can anticipate and fulfill project partner needs, and supports an environment that promotes inclusiveness and team-building.  We seek an Associate Project Manager who demonstrates leadership, an eagerness to learn and grow, and strive for excellence.  He or she will have the necessary skills to play a direct and active role in supporting and ideally managing a variety of advanced transportation projects and should be able to perform the following tasks with strong competency:
Manage projects; 
Conduct studies and perform research;
Perform outreach and build teams;
Develop surveys and perform data analysis;
Produce high quality reports and presentations; 
Support and organize meetings, webinars and workshops that engage stakeholders; and 
Present before small groups. 

Necessary Skills and Experience
The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree.  They will have a strong technical, analytical or engineering background and be able to demonstrate a strong comfort level when dealing with and understanding technologies and technical issues, preferably in the transportation or environmental industries.  The candidate must a high degree of proficiency in written and oral communications.  Candidates must have the capability of presenting to and working with diverse stakeholder groups.  The candidate must work well in a team environment, display personal initiative and be driven by a passion for the clean transportation industry.  It is essential that the candidate be well organized and have impressive project management capabilities.  The candidate should be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, with a high degree of competence in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.  The candidate must also be able to demonstrate initiative, independently manage time, and multi-task in a deadline-oriented environment.  A strong attention to detail will be required. 

Additional Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience are highly preferred. They will be viewed favorably and will provide an advantage:
Experience managing projects and programs;
Certificate or training in program management;
Track record in organizing events and forums;
Specific knowledge of and expertise with advanced transportation technologies and fuels including natural gas, biofuels, propane, electricity, hydrogen, fuel cells and energy storage;
Experience with Technical Data Analysis, Life-Cycle Cost Analysis, Financial Analysis, or Economic Modeling; and
Experience with infrastructure planning;

Compensation and Benefits
CALSTART offers a strong compensation package. In addition to a competitive salary, CALSTART currently offers employees a company-paid HMO health plan including dental and vision care. 

The compensation plan also includes a retirement plan equivalent to 8 percent of the annual salary. CALSTART allows for flexible work hours as appropriate, and provides funding for transit.  The organization also has a strong interest in employee growth and skills development.

The full-time position is in the CALSTART Midwest office located in Troy, Michigan.
